We say your new resin bound system is weed resistant rather than weed free. Whilst nothing will grow up through the surface, air born seedlings may land on top, causing a small amount of growth. We recommend applying a weed killer once or twice a year if this should happen.

The life expectancy of a resin bound driveway is over 15 years.

The best type of driveway depends on many factors. How long you want it to last, how much maintenance you are prepared to do, how you want it to look and how much traffic it will face.

We recommend Tarmac/Asphalt or Resin Bound if you want a hard-wearing yet attractive surface, with little maintenance needed.

Some driveway types require much more maintenance than others. If you’re looking for driveway material that needs little maintenance, then resin bound or Tarmac are your best options.

Resin bound driveways just need a hose clean and sweep to ensure the surface remains looking perfect.

Tarmacadam and asphalt don’t have the natural stone appearance of resin bound, but they typically last a very long time without any maintenance required.

Resin Bound driveways are water permeable, allowing water to pass through the small gaps between aggregates and resin. Resin bound systems also bring other benefits such as a smooth, flat finish and low maintenance. On the other hand, Resin Bonded (resin bond) driveways are non-permeable.

Although they sound very similar in name, there are some crucial differences.

• Resin Bound Driveways
  With this technique the resin and aggregate are mixed prior to application. The mixture is laid evenly and dries to a very solid and highly uniform finish and texture. There is with the added advantage of the drive remaining completely permeable, making it safer and longer lasting.
• Resin Bonded Driveways
  With this approach resin is applied over the driveway, followed by aggregate pressed into the upper surface. This can often lead to loose chippings and an uneven finish. There is the further disadvantage that water will no longer permeate the drive, leading to pooling on the surface.
